At the end of August 2024, we were thrilled to receive the Bronze Award from the Defence Employer Recognition Scheme (ERS), a recognition of our commitment to supporting veterans, reservists, and the families of those who have served in the armed forces. This milestone reflects our dedication to creating a workplace that values the unique skills and experiences of the armed forces community.
The award was made possible through the tireless efforts of our office manager, Debi Miller, whose personal connection to the military—being the wife of a veteran—has driven our organisation to achieve this recognition. Alongside our Chief Operating Officer, Nancy Walters, also married to a veteran, Debi has played a key role in fostering a supportive and inclusive environment for members of the armed forces community.
What is the Defence Employer Recognition Scheme (ERS)?
The ERS recognises employers who go above and beyond to support the armed forces community. The scheme has three tiers—Bronze, Silver, and Gold—and encourages organisations to demonstrate their commitment to the Armed Forces Covenant.
As a Bronze Award holder, we have pledged to:
- Support the Armed Forces: This includes current and prospective employees who are reservists, veterans (including those wounded or injured), cadet instructors, and military spouses/partners.
- Promote Armed Forces-Friendly Policies: We actively encourage the recruitment of members of the armed forces community, recognising the valuable skills they bring to the workplace.
- Display Our Commitment: We proudly showcase the ERS Bronze logo across our website and materials, reflecting our pride in this achievement.

Why This Matters to Us
Supporting the armed forces community is not just a professional commitment but a personal one for our team. Both Debi and Nancy understand the challenges faced by veterans and their families, from transitioning into civilian life to balancing military commitments with family responsibilities. Their experiences inspire our organisation to go the extra mile to create a workplace where veterans and their families feel valued and supported.

By signing the Armed Forces Covenant, we have pledged to uphold its principles, ensuring that no member of the armed forces community faces disadvantage due to their service. Our commitment extends beyond employment to actively raising awareness about the contributions of this community and advocating for their inclusion.
As we celebrate this milestone, we invite other organisations to consider signing the Armed Forces Covenant and joining us in creating a supportive environment for veterans, reservists, and military families. Together, we can make a meaningful difference in the lives of those who have given so much.
